All about the skipper

Having created an “About” page, I’ve been struggling to figure out what to put on it. The site is about sailing, as opposed to personal information about me me me. Perhaps this helps; somebody showed me how to sail a dinghy a long time ago, and since then I’ve been lucky enough to be able to have my own boat from time to time. Whenever I had a boat I’d be hankering to head off “somewhere”, so this blog is about the boats and the “somewheres” I’ve been to and what happened along the way.

The reader may be tempted to think I set off on my adventures without really knowing what I was doing. In fairness, that’s pretty much inevitable when you do things you’ve never done before. Any success is down to worry, timidity, luck and a surfeit of self indulgent opportunity.

As regards anonymity, the skipper’s identity isn’t a secret, but this isn’t the place for loads of “selfies”. As for off topic self opinionated rants 👿 there is a treasure trove of those to be found, but not on this site. 🙂

Unprovided with original learning, unformed in the habits of thinking, unskilled in the arts of composition, I resolved to write a book.― Edward Gibbon
